2024 11-Year-Old Baseball District Team
The West Windsor Little League is excited to offer its best players the opportunity to compete in post-season baseball each summer. Post-season teams are more competitive, as opposed to recreational, although we certainly still expect the players to have fun and to emphasize development and sportsmanship. As such, post-season players are asked to commit to practicing extensively and attending all games.
For 11-year-olds this summer, the 11-year-old WWLL District team will represent our league and compete for state-wide honors. The district team provides a tremendous opportunity for players to improve their skills while competing against the best teams from other towns.
For games in the district tournament, minimum play rules will likely be utilized by the team's manager. All players will bat in the lineup every game. Some players will bat only during the game and will not play in the field on defense. It is possible that some players will not play any innings in the field for the entire District Tournament. There will be a second traditional all-star tournament after the conclusion of the District Tournament.
Mandatory tryouts will occur in April. Selection of the team will occur after consultation with the managers of the players trying out as well as the coordinators of the respective leagues. Practices and games begin shortly thereafter, and can run into early August, depending on how well a team plays. Given the competitive nature of All Star baseball, practices will typically be held 5 to 7 times a week, depending on game schedules.
Playing All Stars is a serious commitment. Players with vacation plans or other activities that will make them unavailable during any part of this timeframe should not register for All Stars. Missing practices and games without valid excuse (such as medical reasons) will impact playing time during games and will impact being selected for All Star teams in the future. Vacations and playing other sports are NOT considered a valid excuse. Questions regarding this should be directed to [email protected].
Costs: The fee for the team is designed to cover the cost of uniform, tournament entry fees and several other fees that are attributable to each team. Uniforms include a uniform shirt that is better quality than the regular season uniform shirts, dry-fit team shirt, hats, belts, and socks. Pants will not be included.
