Others in attendance: Larry Charlip, Ted Phelan, Bill Kramer, Brian O’Leary, Ira Nahoum, Jeff Weinberg, Marci Gelb, Linda Demilt, Andrew Klein
Registration ( Linda )
The teams are all set. A registration comparison chart was handed out to those in attendance. We are exactly equal to last year’s numbers.
Treasury (Shawn)
We have $ 190,000 which is down $8,000 from last year. The reason is that we are down in sponsorships. Expenses are currently low but we are waiting for the uniform expenses to come through. Overall we are in good shape.
Raffle ( Marcy)
There is going to be a volunteer meeting on May 8 to get ready for the raffle. The raffle will fund outdoor batting cages at Conover Field. It is a good idea to have the website and announcers at the fields announcing it. We have many local contributors ( McCaffrey’s, Dicks Sporting Goods, Massage Envy).
Softball (Ron)
There is a problem with the scoreboard so diagnostic testing will need to be done. We will need to make a decision on the U8 tournament soon. First we need to see if we have enough interest to put a team together since this is the first time to see what All-Stars in about. We will send a web blast to check interest. The fields are in good shape.
Baseball (Chris)
T-Ball is up and running. There are 14 teams and 2 coaches for every team. In Rookies all the teams are set with 8 teams. There are 4 AA teams with 12 boys per team. Chris was able to see all the AAA teams. He was able to get the managers all set up. Minors has 8 teams with 12/13 boys per team. Chris was able to see a couple of games and reported the pro umpires were doing a good job.
All schedules are up and posted on every link on the website.
50/70 League- We only have 10 boys signed up so far. We would only be able to play on Sundays. As of right now it only looks like a 25% chance of this happening.
Volunteer forms ( Jacqui)
We are chasing down people to get the volunteer forms filled out.
All Stars
A discussion ensued regarding the selection process of All Stars particularly as it relates to the 9/10 year olds. Currently the rule states that in order for a player to play up, they must be in the top 6 after the tryouts. It was changed to state a player must be in the top 9 after the tryouts in order to play up.
Website ( Bill/Andrew)
The safety manual is updated. All the rules are posted. Andrew Klein spoke about setting up a photo site. We would need a photo coordinator whose responsibility would be to check the photos and to upload them to a folder. Bill or Andrew will update to our WWLL site.
We may start the process of looking for a replacement for Demosphere. One of the problems with Demosphere is that there are not different levels of access, it’s all or nothing. If we find something better we may be able to start for the next season
Big Brother/Big Sister ( Larry)
Every T-Ball team is covered and everything is going well.
Concessions
There are 4/5 new kids helping with concessions and it’s going well.
Sponsorships
We need to follow up on the signs.
Projects
Lights at Community Park for all three fields will cost approximately $110,000 which the township will cover. It will cost us roughly $55,000 to install them. The township will cover the electricity cost. There was a discussion as to whether to go ahead with this. The main concern if we didn’t go ahead with it this year is would the township have the funds next year for us? There was a motion to approve the lights at Community Park which was agreed upon.
